Athens Video Art Festival 2010 presents in collaboration with Electronic Arts Intermix of New York a tribute to one of the most important artists of 20th century. Andy Warhol was undoubtedfully one of the most popular artists of 20th century. His activity in television, cinema and video art was a great part of his work. Within his works his personal and cultural environment were recorded, while Warhol himself was a source of inspiration and subject of the work for numerous other artists.

Athens Video Art Festival has the honor to present on the 7th, 8th and 9th of May 2010 at Technopolis of Municipality of Athens the biggest part of the collection of Electronic Arts Intermix of New York with works that record Andy Warhol, his work and the social circle of his time; from superstars and musicians to artists and celebrities. His personality and work, seen through the eyes of friends, are presented with a unique and spherical way revealing part of both Warhol’s hectic life and fragile presence. Through videos like the legendary “Chelsea girls with Andy Warhol” and “Award presentation to Andy Warhol”, artist’s personal friends, Jonas Mekas and Michel Auder record him, unveiling moments from his life and their experiences shared with him in the avant-garde scene of their time. A different pleat of Warhol’s personality is unfolded, stimulating us to comprehend Warhol’s personal substratum, story, and influences that had an effect on his work as a whole. Beginning with “Scenes from the life of Andy Warhol” and ending up to “Andy Warhol’s last love”, Athens Video Art Festival attempts to outline one of the most important artists of the 20th century, his everyday life and his art.
